Stress affects us all. What one person considers stressful may not be to another. We all have different capacities of dealing with stress loads. When we are in a stressful situation our adrenals glands kick in to help us cope. The adrenal glands sit on top of the kidneys are are responsible for flight or flight response. Such as when there is an accident and people have a surge of adrenaline and are able to lift heavy things they normally wouldn't be able to. Adrenals release the hormone to help us cope with this stress. Repeated stressful situations can put the adrenals in overdrive and eventual burnout. When they aren't functioning properly our ability to cope is diminished. Stress can come in many forms ranging form physical injury and disease to work and relationship problems. Your resiliency, energy and endurance, your very life depends on their proper functioning.
